Family attorneys and law firms deal with the area of law
that involves marital relationships and relationships between
parents and children, as well as violence between family,
friends or acquaintances
The following are explanations of select subjects included
in Orange County family law:
Divorce
(Covered in family Law)
Divorce or “dissolution of marriage” will basically
end a marriage if the two parties involved are found to have
irreconcilable differences which cannot be resolved. You don't
have to give the court any other reason. It doesn't matter
who is at fault. To get a divorce in Orange County, you or
your spouse must have lived in California for the last 6 months
AND for 3 months in Orange County where you're going to file
for your divorce.
Annulment
(Covered in family Law)
In a marriage annulment, the presiding judge will make a decision
as to whether or not a marriage is legally valid. This action
can be filed by a married person to restore the parties to
the status of unmarried persons, as if they were never married.
Because irreconcilable differences are not a reason enough
for getting an annulment, these type cases are different from
familye cases.
Child Support
(Covered in family Law)
Child support is the amount of money that the court orders
one parent to pay the other parent every month for the support
of the child (or children). California has a guideline for
figuring out how much child support should be paid in all
cases. Child support payments are usually made until children
turn 18 (or 19 if they are still in high school full time,
living at home, and can't support themselves). The court may
also order that both parents continue to support a disabled
adult child that is not self-supporting. In Orange County,
custody and visitation issues may also be raised through an
action initiated by the Child Support Services Department.
